Bootloop issue. Not sure software or hardware problem. How to find out?

Hi All,

I'm using Xperia Z2 since 2014. I've never dropped my mobile nor exposed to water. From last week it suddenly went to a boot loop - restarting itself non-stop, showing the Sony Logo on the startup and then the Blue Wallpaper Animation and then it restarts all over again. Sometimes it loads the OS fully but within a few minutes it shutsdown and restarts again.

Initially I thought it might be a software issue, so the next time it loaded the OS, I did a Factory reset quickly. Later I observed that the Battery Indicator (Red LED colour) is not glowing when the mobile is plugged-in while charging. But after sometimes, a few minutes or few hours, the battery indicator will lit up indicating the charging has started working, then again after sometime it will go off completely (No Red LED light). Not knowing whether this is an software issue or an hardware issue, I submited mobile to a Local Sony Support Center (at Tambaram, Chennai, India. Jobsheet no: W116092802617).

The support center guys tried to dupe me saying that many things inside the mobile needs to be changed, from motherboard, some circuit (forgot the circuit name they told), battery, etc., and it would cost atleast INR13000 (approx. 200 USD). They didn't seem to help me in anyway and they were only eager to extract as much money as possible.

I couldn't find any suitable solution online including this website. Most of the solution were mentioning as - Connect to PC Companion and reinstall OS - thats it. But my mobile is not detected at all in PC Companion, there is no LED battery indicator showing in mobile, and PC Companion didn't picked up the phone connected to USB; then how is it possible to reinstall OS?

Any help or any clue to find the actual cause would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Remove both SIM and SD cards > connect the phone to a wall charger > press and hold power & volume up for 10 seconds > let it charge for 2-3 hours > try to turn it on, if that doesn't work, try again with your computer perhaps using different cables, if that doesn't work, then it might be a hardware issue.

Hello, I'm French so excuse me for my bad english, but I think I really found the solution for this really strange problem, after try all like you, and the same problem of this constant boot loop with 3 vibrations and off:

-Connect to pc and pc-companion but don't reconize it or disconnect itself because of the constant loop.

-Because of this constant loop, can't reinstall the OS because it disconnect itself.

-Try to charge it with a mural USB but don't charge because of this constant loop.

-Try a another full power battery but already this same problem.

-Dissassembly all the componants, and dry with a hairdryer to remove the humidity if there is, but always this problem.

-Connect just the motherboard without any componants and the same loop that can see with the red light on and off constantly.

And FINALLY I found that the problem come to the SIM SLOT!!! When there are nothing in it there are the constant loop, and When I insert my SIM card with one on thickness in more....NO MORE F***ING LOOP and it charge good!!!!!!

So I have not resolve the problem yet to fix it surely by see what is disfunctional in the SimSlot (maybe the Red Off Button which would create this loop) but this solution are deffinetely settled this constant loop problem after all this different try to fix it.

So try it too!! And tell it to the wooooorld if it works for you Winking_Face
