Go to Settings>Bluetooth and on the right bottom corner you will see three small vertical dots, touch on it to open up the menu and on that menu choose"Visibility timeout" and an option window will pop up asking you to set the time when you want the Bluetooth to timeout, you can choose "never time out" and it will always stay on and be visible to other devices. I have to warn you though that keeping Bluetooth always on sort of takes up battery and its not just Sony, any phone eats battery when Bluetooth is always on that's is why you default setting was to turn off when not in use. Hope this helps Slightly_smiling_Face

The bluetooth part is normally always on, I am not saying about being discoverable to other units I am saying that it is on to connect to units you have already paired to, if you swipe down from the top of the screen and see the icons, the Bluetooth one is normally on but every now and then it turns it self off, my old Samsung S3 stayed on all the time.

Thanks for your reply though.
