After the update to firmware 14.6.A.0.368 my battery lasts 15 hours instead of 2 to 3 days like before.
I had a similar problem when I switched from 4.4 to 5.0.2 but at that time a factory reset fixed all the problems. So i tried to do the same this time. And at first I worked well and the battery life was back to normal. But after two days the problem reoccurred. So I repaired the phone via Sony PC Companion and that did the trick. But just until I turned my phone on and off and then I was experiencing the same battery drain again.
On "battery usage" screen I see that all apps keep the mobile broadband connection active for a long time, even longer than they actually use CPU time. So there seems to be a problem with the modem. I switched my modem settings to "GSM only" and now the battery drain is reduced. That works for the moment but that's certainly not a solution I want to live with in the long run.
I would be very grateful for advice to get rid of the problem
EDIT:
I downgraded to 5.0.2 and everythin works fine again. You can find the instructions to do so here: http://xperiafirmware.com

Hi!
Thanks for the information, but i don't think it is a real solution for a Xperia Z1 Compact user. Is there a method to downgrade the firmwere until a real solution exist?

Oh, yes, they can. As an owner of a Xperia SP I know very well how I felt when Sony announced that Xperia SP will not get KitKat. So, I'm looking forward to using Cyanogenmod 13 AKA Android 6 on my Z1 compact when it reaches stable stage of development instead of stock Android 5.1.1 provided by Sony which is probably end of the road for Z1 compact.
And I changed battery in my Z1 compact. No more sudden drops.

8 months is too short. The battery in your phone should be still in good condition. I own an used Z1 compact (second owner) and I've been using it for the total of 14 months now, and the battery in my phone caused problems after approx. 11 to 12 months since I got this phone. I don't know what the previous owner did with this phone but my problems started with Android 5.1.1. With 5.0.2 I noticed that battery is drained faster than with 4.4.4, but 5.1.1 was the version which made me change the battery for a new one.

I was pretty stubborn and tried everything that I could think of once I experienced the notorious battery drain. Most of my efforts were directed towards installing firmware over and over again (from 4.4.4 to 5.1.1 and back). Nothing helped. Then I changed the battery. Everything is ok now.

Hi, I've had the same issue with the random battery drain. E.g. 76% to 0% and power down. I was pulling my hair out too as I use my phone a bit too much e.g. for surfing and social media and photographing my baby and despite being techy, I can't these days find time to figure out what to trust to root the thing, so I can put on a ROM that will solve the issue, like I did with my old HTC Desire from 2010.
I was about to root it with this app I found when I stopped and thought, no, I'm going to risk it and take it to Geek Squad in Carphone Warehouse (as it's under warranty till May 2016) and see what they think and whether I have a chance of a repair, as my magnetic port has also fallen out, from trying a third party magnetic charger once at a friend's.
Turn's out the guy at the shop noticed that the battery is actually swelling slightly, which I'm not surpirsed about because of the overheating, which it has been exhibiting lately, since the Lollipop update. This happened to my Macbook Pro Late 2008 but on the display and I got the whole screen replaced 5 years into ownership as it was a known issue!
So the thing has finally gone after having problems with it since Lollipop first went on in May last year (2015) and I get it back on 5th Feb. Meanwhile they gave me a crap LG thing that only allows one app to be open at once. It can only fit on two app's too, so I opted for Whatsapp and Google Photo's and am finding it a tad hard coming off the tech wagon! Lol
I so hope my phone comes back fixed!
Oh and I couldn't repair it at home as Sony Bridge for Mac has a bug with connecting to the internet. It may be USB port is too underpowered but I have no PC to try.

I have just recently updated to 5.1.1 from KitKat 4.4.4.
On KitKat I was very, very satisfied with the battery life and would easily get a day out of my phone.
Since Lollipop 5.1.1? I am down into the 60% mark within an hour of my phone coming off charge! Not good enough!
Is there anything I can do to stop this? I notice that watching a 5 minute YouTube video takes the battery down by 10-15%, which is just ridicuolous! Surely Sony can't just leave serious bugs like this and then turn around and say "no more updates for the Z1 Compact"?
Interested to hear from anyone at Sony or the mods.
