Apparently my memory is nearly full - no idea how to deal with not having an sd card -am such novice

It may also be a good idea to start transferring content from the phone to a PC/Mac to help keep down storage room.

This is a generally easy process, simply connect the handset to a PC, on the phone screen select MTP mode when it appears.

Once done you just need to access the phone's internal storage and transfers the photos/videos from the DCIM folder.

Settings > storage > cache > clear cache, also

settings > apps > look for streaming and heavy apps such as

spotify

chrome

facebook

pandora

etc

storage > clear data
