Android (& All apps) crash after updating the OS

I have a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. After the update I get nothing but a black screen with a notification bar and I cannot do anything at all.

I found out that if I hold the camera button the camera pops out. I can only take pictures. If I try to share it the app I choose to share the picture with crashes.
Nothing else works.

I cannot connect it to pc, because I cannot unlock it.
I tried going to recovery mode but when I hold the power button and the volume buttons nothing happens.

Do you have any other suggestions that might help me recover or hard reset my phone?

Having exactly the same issue and screen after some huge (800mb) update, which it said will take 44min, so I'm guessing it's lollipop version. I wonder if it makes an impact if sim and sd cards were absent at the moment of update?...Installed PC Companion to my laptop. Instructions look easy
