Advice on software update

Can anyone tell me how I DON'T update the software on my z5?

I had an absolute nightmare with the last update and in my previous phone,  also Sony decided to remove functionality to my AV receiver via software update so I don't want to go near anything to do with any update to a product in happy with,  the problem is the phone pesters me incessantly to update,  how do I get that to stop?

I believe you can force stop the software update application by long holding the update notification and going into its settings.

the app will restart when some sort and other sony app ping the servers for something else
