Ads on home screen

I keep on getting pop ups and ads on my home screen from Google play store how do I stop this

Hi @Mike2918,

I'm sorry to hear this. I recommend that you reboot your device to safe mode to see if this behavior is caused by one of your downloaded apps as these will be temporarily disabled in this mode.

Also if you could let me know what model Xperia and Android version you are currently using that would be helpful. You can see this if you go to: Settings > About phone.

My model is Experia z5 compact

I think it's because you're using one of the overlay apps such as AppLock or lock scree app.

Did you have a chance to test if you get these ads when your device is in safe mode?

Thanks your comment was helpful but please can you tell me what application is. BTW my phone use to be a work phone but I got to keep it could that be why
