This is a big problem ,because this is one of the key reasons for me to buy it.I'm very disappoint. When I close the screen and shut all the apps down(without stamina and lifelog still on).During a night,it waste me 13% of battery life(91%-78%).Then I check the battery manage,I find someting is wrong.Z5 compact often self-awake,but I have no idea.I used Iphone6 which just spend 1%-2% battery life(100%-99%/98%;without do something specially;with ios8) a night. Other problems is that:I can't mange jurisdiction of apps,I only can accept or reject, but other phones can easy to manage them, like ios, also in other android phones like samsung (also with up 5.0,not 6.0).I have it for ten days and Z5 compact restart twice! So many bugs and problems!!Fix them please!Fingersenor is not good. And photo is very very red.Besides, photo is bumpy.
So i repared my z5, and formated my sd-card but with no luck. I hope sony fixes this in the 6.0 update.
At current, most (if not all phones) on Lollipop will have battery drain problems. The drain is worse if your're on LTE
There is a bug in loliipop. Apps which uses data will keep the mobile radio "awake" thus using up battery.
This is a well documented problem. u can search,"lollipop mobile active radio" to find out more. It is expected to be resolved in Marshmallow. I also also waiting for the marshmallwo to see how much it helps.
If you wanna check on your device, after pluggin out of the socket and using for a few hours, go and check on battery usage, it's very likely that your chrome or facebook battery usage will be very much higher than screen (in most cases, screen is often the biggest battery drain. It's surprisingly efficient on z5 compact). go to the details of the chrome or facebook app. you will notice that. "mobile active radio" is much much longer than the "cpu front" time, meaning it keeps waking u pyour mobile radio while in the background...
To add on, the apps will continue to keep the mobile radio active even if u kill the app.
The only way is to kill the app and reboot (and not touch the app again)
Again, i reiterate that this happens for all phones on lollipop, not just sony.
This issue is gone with marshmallow. I checked my friend's Nexus 6P which is on marshmallow. He doesn't have the problem and his nexus is able to last 1day+
If I may, this happens on the Z5 compact of mine while on my wife's Z3c does not. On the Z3c there is not even trace of mobile cell standby.
The difference between the two phones is that Z5c has the latest lollipop release while Z3c is one update back, I can tell because the slightly different application launcher or whatever is called the menu you get from those six dots icon.
I am sorry to say it, but Z3c is far better than Z5c for a normal usage point of view, which is why I gave it to my wife. Probably not if you are a gamer, but we are not definitively not in that kind.
I think that we are in 2016 and an operating system should take care of power consumption, not the end user. Besides, the guilty application are from Google, like play store, chrome or the operating system.
I thought that Z3c was better than iPhone (indeed it was), but Z5c changed my beliefs. Four years from now and our (me and wife) new phone will come from Apple.
Maybe 6.0 will be better.
Hi i bought sony z5compact 3 weeks ago and I have had same issue with battery life but I resolve this problem. First what you need to do turn off Google now, turn off adaptive brightness, wfi scanning always turn off and that's helps a lot but I still wasn't satisfied so I have downloaded greenify app and after that 3 days on one charge and still 30% of battery left
Not Google now but "OK Google"
klakol: So why do you buy a smart phone if you turn off the "smart" functions... You can get 5 years old Nokia and it will last full week on battery.
