Many times when I place a call the phone drops the call and all service bars dissappear, it then seems to reset and service bars come back. Very annoying, and brand new phone. Would love a fix, otherwise have to return phone.
Have now found that this only happens when 4G(LTE) is working. If I disable it or no 4G,the error doesn't happen.
Hi,
This is normal behavior as your phone does not support that you make voice calls over 4G. When make a call, or receive a call for that matter, your phone is switching to either 3G or 2G to make the call. Once your call is finished it will eventually go back to 4G ( which is the preferred mode for the UE in its deafult configuration). So what you experince as a reset or the bars dissapears is just that the phone is just changing to another type of a cellular network mode.
Hi there, I don't think this is normal. I press call and all bars dissappear and the phone drops the call, then it resets and I have to press call again, sometimes this works sometimes not and I have to keep trying. If I switch off 4G I can successfully make a call first time, every time. It seems to do the same when WiFi is on, but not as often.
Hi,
It is normal that the phone is using 2G/3G to make the call if your phone is not Voice over IP capable. If your phone, your SIM subscription and your operator is Voice over IP capable your call will stay on 4G and use either the 4G network or if your Wifi is enabled it will use the Wifi to make the call.
What it not normal is that the call is dropped. When you make a call in 4G is that the network have the choice to tell you to go to either 2G or 3G to make the call or let the phone scan for 2G/3G itself. Of course the first choice is faster and will result to a faster call setup. It is the operator network that decides. If the UE receives no command from the network which network to search for (this includes frequencies etc ) it will take some time to first search for the network and then register in 2G/3G and then set up the call. It can also be that the network tells the phone to go to 3G in areas where only 2G is available and this will, of course delay the call set up and in some cases the delay is too important and the call is dropped ( actually never established technically speaking..)
