It says that XZ1 is IP65/68
But also " Don’t worry if you get caught in the rain or want to wash off dirt under a tap water. You should not put the device completely underwater."
Although IP67 and IP68 permit immersion 1m and deeper.
So why 68?
It seems XZ1 protected with common IP65 only - rainproof. Isn'it?
Yeah I agree my Sony Xperia xz1 and I got caught in a rain storm last night. And now my speaker barely works.
Hi @Narsus
Due to some problems in the past and to protect users in case they immerse the device into pools, for example. By doing so you will receive the right support based on the guarantee you have!
This meansthat under a strictly controlled laboratory environment, the hardwareworks as designed even after being exposed to specific conditions.
Sony devices that are tested for their waterproofabilities are placed gently inside a container filled with tap waterand lowered to a depth of 1.5 metres. After 30 minutes in the container, the device is gently taken out and its functions and features aretested.
IP6X » Dust tight.
IPX8 » Protected against the effects of continued immersion in water at depths greater than 1 metre.
So, the IP rating of your device was achievedin laboratory conditions in standby mode, so you should not use thedevice underwater, such as taking pictures. Do not use the deviceto take photos while performing any type of activity underwater, includingdiving or snorkeling.
Doesn´t work or the sound isn´t the same?
If either the speaker or microphone gets wet, their function may be affected until all the moisture has completely dried.
