XZ Premium freezes up and lags

Bought my XZ Premium from Optus Australia.

Installed some basic apps like Outlook, banking app, Microsoft Word, Excel, Spotify and ebay. No games and no large files. Phone is less than one month old. No damage to the device.

Notice while driving with Bluetooth the phone becomes very lagging and not responsive.

Phone can freeze up, stuck on a keypad screen but no response. while using Google maps with Bluetooth while driving locations drops out and can't relocate. Have to restart phone.

Sometimes I get a phone call but the phone screen stays black and won't allow me to answer. Have to restart and check call log.

Also noticed that simply closing and opening apps can cause huge amounts of lag.

I have installed 3rd party software app to monitor ram and clean up background processes, but nothing running in the background, closed all my internet taps, phone will still be very lagging.

Always having to restart the phone, sometimes daily.

I can't find a solution. Considering taking the phone back to optus store for refund or replacement.

@Yahoshua first of all, whatever app you installed to monitor and clean RAM, get rid of it. RAM "boosters" on Android do more harm than good, and killing processes doesn't improve performance and actually can do the opposite.

then, go to Settings > Apps, find your carrier's app (I think it's called MyOptus?) and disable it, and then reboot your phone. some people reported the app causing significant amount of lag.

Thanks man. I just disabled the myoptus app and uninstalled my ram cleaner

I still get occasional lag. I was with HTC for so long and decided on this instead of the U11 and am regretting it now. I have disabled the Optus app. I have the exact same set up and apps as my old $260 HTC desire which never had issues and I don't use many apps at all really. I don't think one app can just completely ruin a phone. I'm sick of restarting the phone every 4-5 days. I know it's not"that big an issue" to restart a phone but this is a $1000 phone. It shouldn't have to restart all the time.

Sony should look into it as there are so many posts in the forum's about it. Plus I hate how the Sony reply is to do our own diagnostics for them. Run the phone on safe mode for a few days and have all our apps switched off? What's the point of the phone then?

Hey bro, I had the same issue before. But it was solved by turning off the Xperia Actions Service.

Hi @mpfern, welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue.

When it comes to third party applications causing problems, there is nothing we can do. Sony Mobile do not have control or access over third party apps, and if an application is not functioning correctly with a particular hardware configuration, the only ones who can resolve that issue are the application developers.

We suggest you test your device in safe mode to determine if the apps are the problem, or if it is something deeper in the phone that is causing it. To confirm, does your phone function correctly while you are in safe mode?
