XZ Premium cannot reconnect to WiFi after Oreo

Hi there!

After update to Oreo my XZ Premium (and my XZ1 Compact) sometimes (but not always) cannot reconnect to saved WiFi networks. Even if I go to WiFi settings and force it to connect via menu it still cannot connect. It connects smoothly after restart. Very annoying. 

Another interesting bug is that sometimes it takes my phone quite a while to open address book. Restart cures this one too. 

Any idea?

Same here, rebooting once per day I could tolerate (just barely though), but I have to do it multiple times per day in order to use wifi. That is just too much. 

This added to bluetooth issues I have at the moment (different discussion), support not answering/commenting/updating anything about the issues, gives me quite strong indication that next phone is no longer Sony.

I also have this issue on 47.1.A.5.51, when turning on Wi-Fi while airplane mode is on, wifi can't connect but with airplane mode disable, it can.

If you do a search on the Internet about Airplane Mode and WiFi you will find conflicting arguments. On my XZ Premium if I turn on Airplane Mode the WiFi automatically turns off...as it should in my opinion. Airplane mode means to me that all radio's in the phone are turned off, thus no external communication with the phone is possible.

However, there are those who say that Airplane Mode should allow WiFi to continue working while shutting down only the radio's that connect to your service provider. Some say that after turning on Airplane mode that you can turn on WiFi by itself. So I think it depends on the phone maker and how they implement this feature.

when I toggle Airplane mode on, WiFi gets cut off, but I can still enable it without toggling the Airplane mode off. never had any issues with it.

Same issue for me. Have xz premium single sim and latest św from December. The wifi still stops to work. Its as like it try to connect but can't establish connection. Restart solve the issue and then the phone will work for some hours or day and then same procedure again. This issue came after oreo I believe...

Same boat too and the December security update didn't fix this issue yet. Although restart are confirmed to work, I tried leaving the phone on idle last night when I noticed it couldn't reconnect the wifi after it disconnected itself. To my surprise, the wifi reconnects itself when I went back to check on the phone a couple of minutes later.

The problem is not the WEP compatibility because after reboot ALL the wifi are working fine!!!!

Is symply just a BUG. XZ Premium already had this bug before OREO but now is obvious that this bug appears very often!!!!

I got the same issue on my XZ Premium, my phone just sometimes can't find the WI-FI signal.

a reboot may fix it but after hours this issue comes again, and I have to reboot several times a day which is very annoying.

I also found this issue occurs more frequently when it's connected to 5G Wi-Fi signal, 2.4G will be better.

I can't believe this bug is still not fixed after months

Me and. My brother bought the same phone, xperia xz premium, I updated and he didn't, my phone is super unstable, the battery doesn't last and the only problem that it's killing my brain is that it doesn't connect to the Wi-Fi. I want it fixed or I want Sony to develop a easy way to roll back to android 7 nougat. His phone works OK. It's not third-party apps. It's the fng android 8 update.

Got my partner an XZ Premium after finally getting her to ditch her 3rd Samsung and go Sony.  Boy am I regretting it now. She is making my life miserable because of this Wi-Fi connection issue. Plus last month she exceeded her mobile data limit as a result. 

SONY... Please give us some sort of hope and release a statement. I have scoured the web for a solution and found nothing :(.
