If you send your Xperia to an official Sony repair center-and they repair it,does it no longer have water resistant capabilities?
The best way to check if your device still has water resistant capabilities are to check inside the Service Test Menu...
- Go to the Phone app and using the keypad dial: *#*#7378423#*#* (*#*#SERVICE#*#*)
- Select "Service Test" and inside the list look for "Pressure Sensor"
- It should display the current pressure in Milibar (a number near 1000 that slightly varies)
- Now with the SIM/microSD card properly shut, try to squeeze your device gently using your Index and Thumb in the front and back of the device...
If the phone is properly repaired and water resistant, the number should increase when you squeeze, since the inner pressure of the device is also rising.
If the Pressure number does not increase and remains just the same as when you started the test, then the phone is most likely no longer water resistant and I would be very careful with it.
I use this method regularly before washing my phone under the tap, or taking it for a bath or whatever...
I hope this helps you.
