WiFi phonecall?

Is the Sony Xperia X Compact (F5321) able to make WiFi-calls?
My phone call company says so, but I can´t find out how to do it!

Hi @Grafis, let me see if I can help out here!

That is correct, Xperia X compact does have support for VoWifi, also called Wifi Calling. If your service provider and subscription (incl. SIM card) has support for the feature you should be able to activate the feature. Open the Phone app > Tap the menu button (three vertical dots) > Settings > Calls > Wi-Fi Calling

If Wi-Fi Calling isn't available in this menu, I would suggest that you get in contact with your service provider.

I hope that helped! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi Martin,
Thank´s for trying to help out.
It´s my wifes phone. On my own XZ# there was no problem to find out...
But what Phone app are you referring to?
Is there a special app for the Xperia X Compact, or is it in the Phone menue somewere?

Thank you @Grafis for your quick reply!

The phone app is the app you ar using for incoming and outgoing calls. If it is a XZ3 that you are using, the way to activate WiFi calling is a bit different due to the fact that it is a Dual Sim-device. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Find and tap Phone.
  2. Tap the menu button (three vertical dots) > Settings > Calling accounts > Select a SIM card > Wi-Fi Calling. If Wi-Fi Calling isn't available, contact your network operator.
  3. Tap the switch beside Off to enable Wi-Fi Calling.

If Wi-Fi Calling isn't available in this menu, I would suggest that you get in contact with your service provider.

On my wifes X Compact there is no alternative for WiFi Calling, strange.
We both have the same service provider.

Hi again @Grafis

As i mentioned in my first post, there is some requirements in order to be able to enable WiFi-calling.

  • you have to use a phone that supports Wi-Fi Calling.
  • your operator and subscription (incl. SIM card) must support Wi-Fi Calling for the device model you're using. (depending on operator, your phone must sometimes be operator-branded and/or use operator-customised system software.)
  • your phone must be in range of a Wi-Fi network.

And if If Wi-Fi Calling isn't available, contact service provider.

I have my wifes X Compact in hand, and there is no such menue that you are talking about.
Can I update the phone in some way?

It says that it has the latest program installed...
Maybe I should talk to the provider instead of you?

Since Wi-Fi calling works with your phone and with your SIM, place your SIM in your wife's phone. If Wi-Fi calling does not show up then the problem is the phone and calling your service provider will not help.
