Whatsapp badge counter not working

I have this issue on my XZ Premium.

Notification comes in just fine, however dosen't show the unread message counter on the whatsapp icon itself like how it does on my Xperia XZ.

On my older phones XPERIA S and XPERIA Z1 it does also not work - it's not implented.

I'm using Nova Launcher Beta 5.3 with Google Companion in Version 1.1 (with Google Now). This is similar to the xperia launcher and you can activate all the badges wit TeslaUnread.

Thanks for the suggestion. 

I do prefer Sony to fix it instead.

My Xperia XZ badge works just fine on stock Xperia Home launcher.

But not on the XZ Premium...

Thanks for the link. I read through it.

Still does not explain why the badge work on my previous Xperias but not the XZ Premium.

Anyway, I did a little digging aroud and this issue seem to be related to the Xperia Home being moved to the Play Store. Those models that can access it through Play Store has the badge not working. This include models such as XA1, XA1 Ultra, XZs and XZ Premium.

Older models such as Xperia XZ, Z5, Z3+ works by default.

What I don't understand is Why Viber has badge counter and Whatsapp doesn't ?

Do someone have problem with the counter notification in the icon of WhatsApp? How can I fix that problem?? For the SMS service no problem, it shows the notification in the icon, but not for WhatsApp! Thanx
