Just switched to a Sony Xperia XZ1 compact and since I have I'm continuously getting Voicemail notifications for voicemail that don't exist.
I've tried resetting the phone, and have even turned notifications off from the phone app and cleared its data. This hasn't stopped it occurring, and it pretty much forces me to keep my phone on silent because it can play the alert tone 6 times in a row for the non existant voicemail.
I'm experiencing something similar with o2 in the UK. When the phone first turns on, I receive a voicemail notification, and if it loses/regains signal, it also prompts one. Very odd behaviour.
I'm on Three, also in the UK. The face it's happening across two different networks would suggest it's an issue with the phone rather than the network no?
I am on EE, also in the UK (now we just need a Vodafone lol). Experiencing the same problem, also on my another X Compact. While the coverage in the UK is quite poor (especially indoor, and especially with EE), notifications keeps showing up feels like harassment tbh...
Not a solution but just a note - the voicemail notification (MWI - message waiting indicator) is delivered to the handset on every connection to the network, so either something is stuck on the baseband firmware side, or (unlikely) all the carriers had their MWI broken.
Are these the same phones that beep during the calls as if there is a call waiting?
I've never experienced the beeping on calls issue.
Interestingly, the indicator has stopped appearing for me in the last week or so but I've received no firmware updates, although I have seen some updates on a few system apps.
Has it cleared for anyone else?
Hi All,
I have been having the same error with my XZ1 Compact. My network provider is Smarty Mobile in the UK (actually a spin off brand from 3, and which uses the 3 network).
The voicemail notification persists after I have dialled my voicemail number and deleted all messages.
The notification can be dismissed by swiping from the drop down, but will reappear seemingly sporadically (though its reappearance is probably associated with each connection to the network, as described by romanempire).
When it reappears, the notification can sound several times in a row.
I have tried:
None of which have worked.
Has anyone been able to resolve this issue?
Thanks.
Hey, I ended up having to ring my service provider and they did some stuff on their end to resolve the issue. It's a common problem apparently.
Hi,
I was on Vodafone and had the same problem.
I'm now on 3 with the same phone and the issue is still not solved.
Can someone please help us to get rid of this as it's time consuming and annoying.
Thanks.
