System update version 47.2.a.4.45 killed my phone. HELP

I got a notification to download the latest system update to my phone (XZ1 compact). I did so and the download and installation continued as usual. 

Now when the installation is complete it seems Android isn't responding. 

When I start my phone and unlock it I can se a part of the homescreen where I usually see a couple of apps and widgets. And a text with a rolling bar that says Mobile starting (its in swedish so I do not know what it would say in another language). 

I can swipe down on the screen and get to the settings menu. And I can recieve calls. But I cant get to any of my apps and when I recieve calls I can see the number that is calling but not the contact. 

I have tried to restart in safe mode, I have tried to restart the usual way several times. 

What can I do? Its been rolling for hours and nothing have happended. Can I somehow reset to the previous version? I am a total n00b when it comes to these kind of things. Please help.

Hi @EmilFuncke, very sorry to hear about this.

It does sound like something has gone very wrong with the update in your device and since you have already tried rebooting it in safe mode, my recommendation is that you try and perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.

This will delete all data stored on the internal storage in the device, you can however create a backup using the same program, but since I'm not sure if you will be able to accept the connection in your device. If you aren't able to accept the connection, you can make a backup to either a SD card or online storage if you go to Settings > System > Advanced > Xperia backup & restore > More > Manual backup and follow the on-screen instructions.

I am having the exact same issue and there is no advanced option in the settings> system menu to back up the phone.  i regret trying this update

Hi @ccc1886, sorry to hear about this.

If you go to System, tap "Advanced" at the bottom of the menu (Backup, Reset options, Xperia Backup & restore), the menu will expand and you will see some more options > tap on "Xperia Backup & restore" > More > Manual Backup > and select where it should be saved.

If you can accept the connection to a PC before starting with the repair, that is also an option of course.
