Hi all,
after 1,5 days of usage, brand new XZ2 went to infinite boot loop and won't recover. So far I've let it run completely out of battery as I'm unable to recharge or connect with PC (and companion app).
Contacted Sony support and they informed of the possibility to connect the device with companion app and try to recover the phone by I guess reinstalling the SW.
Anyone else experienced this type of an issue?
In detail, the phone went to infinite boot loop while being in my pocket, but it should've been locked so now special input recognized that would have caused the phone to shut down / restart in the first place. Once rebooting, first you can see the SONY logo which turns in to Powered by Andoird and eventually the flashy XPERIA logo which some times changes color, others stays static, and after 5-20 seconds, it vibrates as if it was shut down again, few seconds and another vibrate as it was started back on again and the loop starts all over with SONY logo.
Note that no special applications or loaders have been installed, running standard, I believe the latest OS.
Try the following: hold power & volume up until phone vibrates 3 times (20-30 seconds), take out sim & sd card (if any), power on.
@Roadrunny76 , thanks for replying!
Do you mean take the sim & sd card out before attempting to press power & volume up, or while powering on?
1. Take out sim & SD
2. Have the phone shut down
3. Press and hold power & volume up simultaneously until phone vibrates 3 times (around 20-30 seconds)
What should happen after step 3. ?
Thanks!
No, it's like that:
1. Press and hold power & volume up simultaneously until the phone vibrates 3 times (minimum 10 seconds). This will force your phone to shut down.
2. Take out SIM & SD cards.
3. Try to start your phone again.
The described 1 - 2 - 3 method cuts the loop alright and shuts the phone.
However starting again ends into another infinite boot loop, even without SIM & SD cards.
Following the Companion apps Software repair completely till point where repair is finished succesfully. Once disconnected the phone, restarting the XZ2 results in again infinite reboot loop.
It seems to be totally bricked. Weird thing though is that the software reapair finishes succesfully, did it twice already. One would think that if the SW is totally screwed as seems to be here the case, or memory corrupted, it shouldn't be even able to write in the new SW.
What also worries me that it wasn't completely dead on arrival but managed to operate nearly 48 hours normally with two charge times until collapsing, meaning it will definitely take some time for Sony to regain my trust as I unexpectedly had to operate a complete business day without a phone which took some nerves to get through.
My xperia xz2 did the same but turning off the wifi as soon as it booted made it stop.
Hey,
Sorry for replying a couple of months late, but did you get anywhere with your issue?
I have an Xperia XZ Premium doing exactly the same thing.
Thanks,
Lee.
Hi,
Nothing I tried could solve the issue so the phone got replaced with a new one. Didn't experience any issues with the replacement.
