SIM card not recognised at all (Sony XZ1 Compact)

Hi folks.

I made a new nano SIM card by my provider (telephone company), so I could keep my previous phone number. I tested this new nano SIM with an older phone, it was recognised and worked OK for calls and for SMS too. So this new SIM card is ok.

Now I purchased a Sony XZ1 Compact, that I wanted to use. It works ok, except it didn't recognise the SIM card at all. I tried software update through Sony Xperia Companion, and also tried to change a few settings using the *#*#4636#*#* code, but that didn't help either.

What should I do? Slightly_frowning_Face

Looks like a similar issue like mine: /t5/Xperia-XZ1-Compact/No-SIM-No-wifi/td-p/1384759/jump-to/first-unread-message

Does wifi work on your device? I.e. can you turn on wifi, connect with a network and browse the internet for example?

I was advised to send in the device for repair.

I tried one of my collegues SIM card too, but that was not recognised either.
Then I did the final thing I could do: Software Repair in the Xperia Companion program (PC+phone).
It didn't help at first, but then I reinserted the SIM card one last time, and then it recognised it, so that the smartphone restarted and the SIM was recognised. Slightly_smiling_Face
I wonder why there are no exact steps online what needs to be done. That maybe the SIM card needs to be reinserted twice, or maybe before the Software Repair some of the things I did were also necessary, but we don't know which...

Next thing: I made 3 phone numbers onto this SIM card with the older phone, those are not shown unfortunately with this new Sony, so I will still need to sort this out.

Hello Rafael, thank you for the helpful words.
Yes, Wifi worked, only the SIM was not recognised. Now I wrote down the solution (in my case).
