Hi @Sahan_j,

It does sound like you and your friend may have different customizations of the software in your devices. All customizations do not get the update at the same time and that is why it's not released at the same time for all phone models.

I can take a closer look at this if you want, but then I would need your and your friends IMEI numbers in a private message. You can find the IMEI number if you open up the phone application and type in *#06# using the dial pad.

To send me a PM, click my profile below and then tap/click on "Send a message" in the top right corner.

I hope that helps! Slightly_smiling_Face

I have received the September security update Oktober 15 which is 5~6 weeks after release!

Now the SXZ1c is out of the list for an upgrade to Android 10 I would like to know how long we, with the SXZ1c, will received the security updates and in what time after release we will get them. Anyone an idea?

Hi @SexPistols,

This is very hard for me to answer I'm afraid. Slightly_frowning_Face

I can see that the 47.2.A.11.228 update is the latest one for any customization for the Xperia XZ1 Compact, but I can't say for sure if this is the last one or not.

The tricky part about software updates is that some markets may receive it faster than others due to there being not operator customizations and so forth. In addition, network operators and specific markets may choose not to use the updates for specific models.

Hi Jonas and all other Sony,

I'm in the Netherlands and have an unlocked SXZ1c so nothing to do with my provider for updates/ security patches from them only from Sony.

So how long is Sony gives the Experia XZ1 compact security patches (or updates) and what's the time that Sony uses for it to release those?

Hi again @SexPistols!

The standard should be 2 years and that includes both system and security updates for flagship devices, that is all the information I was able to find. There can of course be other factors that makes this period both longer and shorter.

For the NOBA market (Nordic and Baltic) where I'm situated, there is only one customization for all operators so even if the device doesn't have for example, a Vodafone customization, operators will still have a say regarding their services, such as VoLTE/VoWi-Fi.

Shouldn't it be 3 years of security updates for Android Enterprise Recommened devices?

You're correct.

So 3 years it is to get security updates for the Sony Xperia XZ1 compact what is from September 2017 till September 2020, just 10 months to go. I bought it November 2018 hoping it will get soon Android 9.0 what arrived around April this year 2019 I believe. Android 10 came in August 2019 and I thought that it will come to XZ1c also soon. But no, no Android 10 for me! In Android 10 the security updates came right away when they made. Sony is now about 6 weeks later!
