Hey there!
I was previously using a Z3 and have just upgraded to the XZ premium. I sent a loooong SMS from the XZ premium to a friend and used a few emojis in there and received the pop up:
"Sending SMS messages
Chomp SMS (this is the SMS app I use) is sending a large number of SMS messages. Do you want to allow this app to continue sending messages?"
So i know i know - it could be the SMS app. WELL, I went to the phone's stock messages app and the message would not send from there either. The pop up did not come up though I don't think. I will contact the SMS app developer incase though as well!
I used the same third party SMS app on the Z3, no dramas and I also sent similar sized SMS messages!
Can anyone shed any light on what might be happening here? Are there any settings on the phone that I can adjust so this doesn't happen?
I noticed that this particular SMS message comprised of about 42x SMS messages (about 66 characters per SMS) but when I took out the emojis it reduced to about 18x SMS messages. But it shouldn't have made a difference as I was previously able to send similar messages as mentioned above on the Z3 with all of the emojis!
Any help would be much appreciated
Thank you!
it's a limitation imposed by Android, you can only send a certain amount of SMS per hour without getting that prompt. I'm not sure what the current limit is, but some old articles indicate that couple years ago it used to be 100 messages per hour. as far as I can tell, it can only be changed by modifying some system file (which requires root) or flashing custom ROM that supports changing it.
edit: unless I found some obsolete info, it appears that currently the limit is 30 messages in 30 minutes.
Thank you for your response!
It makes sense but I'm just wondering how come this never happened on my Z3, which is also an Android phone and I sent a similar sized SMS message just a few days ago?
