Pattern lock required to reset phone

Greetings,

I have a slight "problem". When I try to reset my phone, upon startup it requires for me to enter my pattern lock (before the password for the SIM). Is it necessary or did I enable it somehow? I have it for quite some time but I can't remember.

Hi @Sethuna, welcome to our forum!

This is something that you can change when you setup a screen lock on the device. There is then an option that asks if you want to use the screen lock to start Android or not.

Do I understand correctly that you have forgotten your pattern lock and you are not able to unlock the device? If that is the case, the only option is to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.

Do note that this will delete all data stored on the internal storage of the device and since it can't be unlocked, you will not be able to create a backup.

I hope that answers your question! Slightly_smiling_Face

Oh so it was there all this time. Thank you for the info. I didn't forget the pattern, it's just that i eject/insert the SD card frequently and I couldn't remember where this option was. I knew I enabled it somewhere, but couldn't find it. Silly I know, thanks again!

Hi again!

Oh, I see, sorry that I misunderstood that part of your question! Slightly_smiling_Face

If you don't want this extra security on your device, you can remove your current screen lock and set up a new one and choose to not have this option enabled.

Have a great day! Slightly_smiling_Face
