Hi @FireflySerenity, sorry to hear about this.
Have you been able to carry out a test on the accelerometer while the phone is in safe mode to see if there is a downloaded app causing the accelerometer to malfunction?
If the test fails both in safe mode and in normal mode, I would suggest that you try to
repair the software on the phone using a computer and Xperia Companion. Keep in mind that a software repair will erase all user data from the phone, so it is advised to do a backup of your user data before proceeding with the repair.
If the software repair do not manage to improve the functionality of the accelerometer, I suggest that you get in contact with your local support team to have the phone sent to an authorized service center. If you have any questions regarding the service such as routines, warranty and consumer laws, these kind of questions are best answered by your local support team as well.
Try this and feel free to keep me posted with the results!

What are the consequences if the acceleration sensor does not work?
i again @FireflySerenity and thank you for the quick reply!
Accelerometers in devices are used to detect the orientation of the phone. The gyroscope, or gyro for short, adds an additional dimension to the information supplied by the accelerometer by tracking rotation or twist. It measures linear acceleration of movement of the device. That means that an accelerometer will measure the directional movement of a device.
I hope that answered your question!
Thanks for the help, most likely I’ll take it to the local service
Sounds like a good idea, @FireflySerenity. Your local support team should be able to arrange for the phone to be sent to an authorized service center.
