Hi,
Since reinstalling my Hotmail account I don't seem to be getting any emails coming through.
Can someone tell me what I should do please?
Kind regards

Hi,
I have managed to sort this problem out by signing in through Google, emptying the trash folder from there seems to have done the trick.
Thank you

Which brings me to advertising Outlook for android .
Set upyour account there and see what happens.
Hi,
I already have an Outlook account which I wanted to keep separate from my personal hotmail account. I know I am able to add additional accounts but that's not what I'd like to do.
I have an email app which is a preinstalled app that I used for my hotmail account. I have tried deleting the account and adding it back on but I am having the same problem with the server connection. I am not able to delete/remove this app and reinstall it as it is an app built within the phone.
I can only assume that the settings within incoming settings are wrong.
Server says - s.outlook.com
Port says - 443
I really don't understand what's happened.
Hi @Pebbles2, I am sorry to hear about that.
Have you tried clearing data for the Email app, and then tried adding the account again? In order to do so, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App info > Email > Storage > Clear data. Now try adding the account again.
If it still won't sync properly, can you please let me know if you're trying the automatic setup, or doing the manual one? If it's automatic, try setting it up manually, where you can enter the server and port yourself. To do so, start the Email app and enter the account credentials, but instead of pressing "Next" after inputting your password, press "Manual setup". Here you can choose the account type which you wish to setup, for example Exchange ActiveSync (EAS). I made a quick Google search and found the Hotmail settings for an EAS setup:
Windows Live Hotmail Exchange ActiveSync server address: m.hotmail.com
Windows Live Hotmail Exchange ActiveSync domain: (leave empty)
Windows Live Hotmail Exchange ActiveSync user name: Your full Windows Live Hotmail address (e.g. [email protected])
Windows Live Hotmail Exchange ActiveSync password: Your Windows Live Hotmail password
Windows Live Hotmail Exchange ActiveSync TLS/SSL encryption required: yes

I am sorry to say that I can not confirm if the above settings are correct, but you may confirm it with the Hotmail team to make sure, or simply try adding an IMAP or POP3 account instead.
Let me know how it went!
Hi,
I tried that and it worked for a day for I got the same server connection message.
I wasn't able to add certain information on the set up.
I tried emptying the trash folder and that's when I started to get the error message.
Hi,
A few days ago I logged in to outlook through Google and finally managed to delete all the items in my trash folder. Although I'm still getting the server connection error but then it disappears but at least I'm now getting my emails coming through.
Hi again, I am sorry for my late reply - I have been on a vacation.
I deleted the images which you attached, as they had personal information (your Email address), I hope that is OK. As for the error message, it sounds very strange and I am not sure what the cause could be as it connects fine until you try to clear the trash folder. Have you tried getting in touch with the provider in order to see if they have encountered it before, and know what the next troubleshooting step would be?
Let me know!
I am happy to hear that! Please feel free to let me know should you need further assistance.
Since swapping my phone to Xperia xz1 the built in email only downloads the main header of the emails with no body attached. Tried clearing the data/cache etc. Tried deleting the account and starting again. Still it reports connection error on 's.outlook.com'
Ive since installed the outlook app which is fine but would prefer to use inbuilt email as I've always done with my Sony phones. Is there a fix?
Just added a @gmail.com account and that works fine. So the problem definitely lies with the connection to s.outlook.com server on my @live account
Kind regards.
