Dear concerned,
I have bought an imported Xperia XZ1 (Made in Thailand) in this month and i have noticed that after i started using my phone, there is no system update available regardless of timeless search for updates. My security patch is of August 5, 2017 (out of the box). I emailed to Sony Mobile GB who have advised me to repair the phone via PC Companion.
I want to get some other suggestions as well. Do i really need to repair it? or is there any other way to get the latest update?

You just did with that customisation number,
I thought it was the case before, that number was confirmation.
No no, how to check it officially through any forum as i want to return it to my vendor and for that i need evidence
You can go to Xperiacheck and type in the customisation In a search on xz1 firmware page, that will link directly to the commercial and journalist firmware.
This thread, and that page would be more than enough information for you.
So flashing the latest global rom would solve this issue? I mean, will i get the latest updates then?
You will get updates for whichever region customisation you flash.

Hi, I have the same issue, but it says: service_exchange_unit, last update over a year ago... What does that mean? They repaired the phone, changed motherboard and battery and it will stay on Oreo till it's last day?
How can You consider this as full 540€ worth device that still has a year guarantee?
