Music volume keeps going down

I keep my phone in my pocket and play my music but everytime I walk about the volume reduces all the way down to nothing. I would assume that the volume button is being pressed down accidentally as I walk, but I'm not wearing tight trousers and I've tried putting the phone in different pockets and turning the phone to face into my body and also away from my body and nothing helps. Everytime I walk the sound goes right down to nothing I don't understand it. I've kept my Xperia Z for the last 3 years in my pocket while playing music and never once had this problem, it's really beginning to annoy me now. Anyone else getting this?

Hi @Justinsh, sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

Have you had the opportunity to try with a different pair of headphones? It could be related to the headphones that you have as you do not experience this behaviour when using the speakers in the device.

You can also try restarting your device in safe mode, so we can rule out that a downloaded application is the cause of this behaviour.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi mine is doing the same, lowering volume randomly, with headphones in, while using phone speaker, it's not just music either it does it with any media such a youtube, I thought it may fix it's self after latest update but nothing. If I pause it and play again it goes straight back up. Very frustrating! Please help us

Hi @EllieJones, sorry to hear about this, must be very frustrating. Slightly_frowning_Face

Have you tried what I suggested in my earlier post and restarted your device in safe mode?

If you haven't done that, please do so and report back!

Hello, I've had this problem for quite a whlie too. I'm on A Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 and my volume always seems to go down after about 10-20 minutes of using my headphones  (TMLs) I've looked through multiple websites but cannot seem to find an answer. I mostly have my volume all the way up, but it doesn't turn it down all the way, just to a very low volume. I know it's not the headphones because I use them for my laptop too and have had no issues at all. It also only ever happens when I'm using the built in music player for Samsung. Please help!

Hi @Hi170, sorry for the late reply!

I will not be able to assist you with a Samsung device, as this forum is only for Xperia devices.

Safe mode is an Android feature though, so you could try restarting in that and see, but past that, I won't be able to provide any support for your Samsung tablet, so please get in touch with their support! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi,

I don't know if there already is a fix for the problem, my sony experia x is behaves like this:

With the headphones on, whenever the cable near the headphones microphone is moved the volume turns down.

I'll try the safe mode and give you more feedback on this as soon as i know a sony tech support Angel is still out there trying to help ^^

Hi @Lexeus, welcome to our forum!

That sounds very strange. Are there any volume controls on the actual headphones, or is it just a normal play/pause button?

If you have another wired headset you can try with that one, since I haven't actually heard about that exact behaviour before and it can be the headphones that is doing this, but hard to tell right now.

Let me know how it goes both in safe mode and with a pair of different headphones/headset! Slightly_smiling_Face
