SONY, what are you doing??? I just went to check on whether there was a new update or not and what do I see? An AD for Booking.com Hotels just waiting and ready to install!
Are you out of your ever loving minds?
I hate the bloat and worthless crap that is already installed on this phone and now you have the unmitigated gall to try and push even more crap on us?
Guess what? I am no longer backing you up and you have just lost another paying customer! I don't care what the next Premium phone has or looks like at all! Goodbye!
It's not like you are forced to install it you know. Ignore it and move along.
So then, I take it that you find it acceptable that Sony is loading software of sorts without permission? Just the fact that it is a new poke at us to load something else we may not want...and there is no easy way to get rid of the nag. tells me that I do NOT want to support Sony any longer. Without any doubt I will be selling this phone soon and getting?????? Waiting for MWC to see what is coming. I own this phone...I am NOT leasing it...it is mine lock-stock-and barrel. I am tired of being pushed around by all these companies that think they can do what they want whenever they want with MY ITEMS! Sony loaded this up behind my back at some point very recently. I know other companies do the same thing. The ones who do it the least will be the ones to get my $$$$$
I totally agree. This means that Booking.com has paying Sony enough money, to force this crap to MY 800€ phone. For me, this booking app (and earlier Facebook app) are completely worthtless bloatware. Apparently Sony has need to turn their phones an advertising platform. This forcing policy is wrong. Money talks.
People who really need these applications install them anyway, at free will. I will never use them, they only consume memory which i payed, and most annoying thing is, i can't block it. Agreed, it's not many Mb:s of memory, but it's matter of principle.
The XZP is amazing device and i use many years Sony phones, but if Sony continues pushing force install bloatware, my only option left is root the phone and accept that i to loose warranty and functionality of banking apps. And the next phone is different brand.
it's annoying, really to push people such unwanted garbage
Looks like Sony also agreed. No more bloatware suggested in the softwareupdate section.
I noticed this morning also that the bloat advert for Booking.com was GONE!
So what is going on here? I'm not complaining that "someone" decided to remove it, but I want to know WHO decided, and if I own this phone outright what gives them, or anyone, the right to add or remove any software from my phone without my express consent? So did Sony have to back out of some type of agreement for revenue? Is Booking.com going to complain? Is Sony actually reading these forum threads and deciding that some complaints will harm them more than others? I wish there was a rhyme-or-reason to this madness.
Well, technically, phone owner owns only device, not the software. User has only licence to use software, as all commercial software. I'm sure that EULA has section which says that software owner has right to modify software to some extent without users permission. Which of course.
I'm glad booking.com has gone. And now, after latest system update (47.1.A.12.34) , update app shows only system updates, and the bloat section is totally gone. I hope those bloat software provided over Whats New app in the future. Maybe now on, those useless applications can be installed willingly, not by force.
Just guessing, but Booking.com has disappear so fast after your complains that i wonder, has Sony accidentally cause this episode? Or is it possible that someone from Sony staff actually reading this forum....?
