After several arguements with the muppets at sony tech support about their bloatware auto updating (even though auto updates are off) i would like to know the process of removing all the BS bloatware and sony software such as whats new off my device. All i get from the idiots at sony is that the issue of the apps updating themselves is impossible, yet i have witnessed it with my own eyes. The tech support wont remove any of the programs from my device as they say its part of the phone. They also have no idea on what updates are available and have no access to the release notes, agai this is confusing as a support team should know this kind of stuff. Any help would be great
Hello @Tsukassa
Yes, I can understand your frustration. As I am also a user of Xperia, I have the same desires. However, what I can say is that the only option is to disable the applications you do not want on the phone. By doing so, applications will still be in the phone memory, however, all updates, data and cache will be removed! I did the same on my Xperia Z5 and have never had problems with disabled apps that update themselves!
Please note that some applications, such as What's New, do not allow this. However, you can discard an update when you receive update notifications on your device:
Whether an app can be uninstalled or disabled depends on the app, and if it was pre-installed on your device or downloaded. Downloaded apps can be uninstalled. Pre-installed apps cannot be uninstalled, only disabled if the app supports this. If you disable a pre-installed app, you can enable it again under Settings > Apps & notifications > App info . |

Please, let me know if that helps!
Done all of what you suggested but the apps still auto update, i have read on xda that it is possible to remove the apps with some faffing and without rooting. I have also read that some of these apps ARE spyware. I will post the link to remove said apps when i am back at my pc
i have just returned home and here is the link as promissed
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
after following the instructions i have removed about ten apps that sony say are impossible to remove without rooting. i hope this helps others who are as frustrated by the sony garbage they force on the users
Thanks for the sharing, but please note that:
"This is a good thing, however, as it means that these applications truly aren’t being uninstalled from the device, they are just being uninstalled for the current user (user 0 is the default/main user of the phone). "
I wasnt aware of that, thanks for the heads up
