Losing GPS location while using Maps/Runtastic

This started happening approximately 2 month ago.

I'd get into my car, start up Google Maps, enter my destination and start driving. Everything fine. Then after a seemingly random point in time the GPS position "is lost" and my XZ1 is searching for a GPS signal. This can go on for over 30 minutes (that's as long as i waited at max so far). Turning GPS off and on again seems to help for a few minutes and then it's lost again.

Same goes for Runtastic. I run for a while and midway through, the XZ1 loses the GPS position.

I now made it a habit to reboot my smartphone right before going for a run or using Maps, but seriously, THAT can't be the solution...

I've already done a factory reset and the problem still persists, Android is up to date, i don't know what else to do... Please help?

I have the exact same problem.

It's very frustrating as I rely on my phone's GPS navigation to get places.

The GPS test in the support app says everything is fine.

It works OK for a little while after switching the phone off and on agai but it never lasts. 

Please does anyone know a way to fix this?

I'm having similar problems, but restarting doesn't help. I'm wondering if it's a hardware or software problem and if it's worth sending the device for a repair or not...

Any word by sony on the issue?

It might be software if you guys are on the latest software patch because I'm still on the August Patch and I have not had any problems. I do use navigation a lot.

A good App for testing your GPS is the GPSTest app by barbeauDev. Not the one with a very similar name which is full of Adverts.

I had poor gps reception, and eventually had to send it back to Sony (twice). They replaced the antenna and the main board. It seems to work OK now.
