Jack socket faulty?

Let me start by saying when I plug in some headphones it works. And when I unplug them, everything is fine. The issue I have noticed is that sometimes, when I plug my headphones in the phone will either freeze, or stop functioning on whatever I was trying to do at the time. A reset will sort everything out but I do have to hold down the volume and power button to do this. Is this a software issue? Is anyone else having this issue?

I think it might be a software issue. Start troubleshooting by restarting your phone into safe mode, this will disable all installed 3rd party apps. If the problem is resolved then one of your installed apps is causing this issue and you have to figure out which one. Start by uninstalling those apps you installed recently.

I did take off a lot off apps but it wouldn't hurt to dig a little deeper. When I had my Samsung I used rocket music player and it used to come on or play music whenever I plugged headphones in. I could disable this but it was on by default. Hopefully the next update will sort a few niggles out. I did hear (could be wrong) it was going to be a big update.
