In Whatsapp and messaging my stock keyboard still autocorrects words occasionally and there seems to be typing lag. With alarming regularity the space bar fails to register if I'm typing fast. It has been the same way on both XZs I've used.

Yeah same here... It's very irritating... I really loved the Sony stock keyboard... Wonder why they are not using it now

Agreed. SONY's own keyboard was one of the reasons I liked their UI.

So was the old phone app UI.

The XZ's phone app is awful, I'm still looking through available alternatives...

And the keyboard, I already replaced, cause the default one will turn what you type into whatever it knows and I found no way to disable that.

Does anyone else have typing issues? My keyboard often feels like I'm typing through treacle and the spacebar frequently fails to register unless I'm typing slowly and really bashing the bar. I've tried several different keyboards and they all exhibit the same behaviour. Swiftkey is the worst for it and Flexsy the best, but I can't get used to the ugly keys in Flexsy.

You can disable autocoorrect in SwiftKey from Settings -> Language & input -> SwiftKey Keyboard -> Typing -> Typing & autocorrect.

SwiftKey will however still provide suggestions in a bar above the keyboard as you type. This can't be turned off so if it sometimes writes or corrects what you type, make sure you don't tap any word there by mistake.

I suspect i might not be as fast at typing as you but i haven't been able to replicate any lag or fail to register space bar while typing in our messaging application. Does this happen in all apps you try?

Or you can dissable suggestions at all.

Go to Settings --> Language & input --> SwiftKey Keyboard --> Languages and unselect all languages.

Or go to Menu (Apps) --> SwiftKey Keyboard --> Languages and unselect all languages.

No more suggestions.

I don't like SwiftKey Keyboard because I can't dissable Automatic space. On Xperia keyboard we can turn off Automatic space. And word suggestion was better on Xperia keyboard.

Good suggestion but it will stop the swype as well..and we will get no suggestion

@Rickard why Sony decided to remove their own keyboard?

Even with the Google keyboard typing is still slow on the XZ and the spacebar repeatedly fails to register my touch.
I can press the space bar 10 times by itself and it will register every time but if I type words at a reasonable pace the spacebar frequently fails to register my touch. I've cleared the cache, reset and tried loads of different keyboards but this problem remains. I do a load of typing and this is a dealbreaker for me.
