Hi, I'm having this problem that I'm getting really frustrated with. I've searched the web for answers to my problem, but none have helped.
My xperia xz doesn't recognize the headphones I plug in (which is something I didn't even know was possible until getting this phone? I thought all headphones were supposed to work with any headphone jack!) and when it does, the sound is absolute garbage. I've tried four different pairs of headphones, and only one has worked and they are Apple headphones but the sound is crackly and distant and the slightest movement of the headphones in the jack makes it sound 10x worse.
Are there any headphones that actually work with this phone? Is this just a problem that's common with this phone? I got this phone with the intention of having it replace my ipod but now it seems that that is just completely impossible.
I don't know what to do other than keep buying different headphones to try, but that's too expensive of a solution for me. I also tried to do what many people have suggested here and delete the data or preferences or whatever for SmartConnect but I can't even find that app anywhere on my phone.
Hi @QMP11037, welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about this issue.
The first thing to do is to make sure there is nothing in the headphone jack. Dust, debris, moisture etc can cause problems. You should also check that your phone is updated to the latest firmware available.
If it is clean, make sure the headphones are plugged in all the way, and are not loose in the jack. If they are plugged in correctly but feel loose, you may have a physical problem with the headphone jack. In that case we would recommend you contact your Local support team to arrange a repair assessment.
