Group contacts and text messaging

After the update to android 7 group contacts are not shown in contacts. You favourites  and all are the only fields shown, but no groups? All my grouped contacts still have the group assigned but there's no way I can see to display the group?

Likewise you can no longer select a group to send a message to under the standard Sony messaging app.

Any ides?

I have updated soft ware on my Xperia xz and now my groups are not there when I open contacts.  How do I get them back? I cant find a filter which was mentioned 2015 for this problem.

Welcome to the community.

The Groups tab in the Contacts app has been removed in Android Nougat 7.0. However, you can still access group data when editing a contact, to create a new group or to edit members of a group. All previously registered group data has been kept and you can still select which groups to show in the Contacts list.

To create a new group

1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Tap Contacts, then select a contact.
3. Tap the edit icon > More fields.
4. Tap the group field > Create new group.
5. Type the name of the group, then tap OK > Save.

To select which groups to show in Contacts list

1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Tap Contacts, then select a contact.
3. Tap the edit icon > More fields.
4. Tap the group field, then mark or unmark a group list.
5. Tap the back icon, then tap Save.

I do not believe you can sent it to a group, you will have to add each contact individually.

This is very frustrating!  Why would they do such a thing?  One simple click and the message could go out to 10 recipients. Now it will take 5 minutes just to send one message having to scroll through all the contacts and select them!!! This needs to be changed.

I am not sure, it was a change made by Google, we didn't have much control over it.

There may be third party apps on the playstore that have the functionality you need, though I can't recommend any directly.

??? There are no contact groups in the new update. Your answer is wrong. There is only FAVORITER & ALLA in Contact view. PS the app is krasching all the time. The worst update ever.

Sony Company, are creepy stupid or think.
As you can launch a product with so many flaws.
1. Lack groups in contact, even if fault Operating System that comes XPERIA XZ blame all of you is not check that we deliver ANDROID.

2. The power jack is inserted into the phone is different from other phones. In the European Union really is a law that requires all phones to have the same type of charger.

Stupidity is everywhere ...

So look, I'll wake up one day as not sell any phone and you will go bankrupt after nokia ....
