Google Play on my Xperia XZ 1 compact doesn't update or download apps anymore. If an app is clicked for installation or update, the symbol for "download pending" appears, and stays there. Nothing happens.
-I've cleared cache and app data. Muliple times.
-I've forced terminated the app.
-I've removed the SD card (which didn't have any apps moved to it).
-I've rebooted in safe mode.
-I've hard reset the phone to "factory settings" using Xperia Companion.
-I've logged on to Google Play on my PC to try and reset the data there.
-I've double checked: my Wifi is super fast and full strength, and my 4G-mobile data has over 100 Gb to spare.
-I've dug up my old super-cheap LG and even found the little plastic scrap that makes a nano-SD into a micro-SD again, and started it up. Every app updated in a matter of minutes!
So. I'm not getting another Sony, that much is clear. But I got this one in December and thought I'd wrangle at least a couple of years out of it. So. Now what?

Okay: I found a workaround after scouring the interwebs even more. By uninstalling all updates to Google Play it starts working again. But the Play-app updates itself within a few minutes and that can't be prevented. So, it is not Sony alone, but both parties have some work to do. Or G--gle need to make sure their software runs on the intended platforms/OSs.
So, the issue isn't resolved, but this thread might as well be.
