I am looking further in what I can do with the xz premium. I want to try mirroring with chromecast. But some video apps on the phone are cut on the side by the navigation bar, even in full screen. I have seen this in Periscope and 7Plus (a tv app in Australia). I said Stan earlier which does have the bar hide. I don't want mirroring with the navigation bar showing.
I have attempted to research this issue. There is no setting on the phone as far as I can tell. There are apps though that promise to hide the navigation bar and other bars.
The thing is though every one insists that I have to alter a setting in the system. It's not rooting but I am concerned about any possible issues with doing that, including affecting warranty. I have installed one called Granular Immersive Mode. It says this,'To grant or revoke this permission, you need to USB connect your device to a computer and follow a simple procedure. The wiki has a very easy to follow page for this process with a step-by-step guide with screenshots for Linux and Windows and links to the official Android ADB package and documentation.' It says in the play store that '...to enable immersive mode, WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission must be granted to it.'
I'm not intidimidated by this, I have programming experience. I'm just concerned that it has to be done.
Update: The so called simple steps given in the wiki include putting the phone in developer mode and turning on usb debugging. But I cannot get it to work because it is supposed to install an adb driver. In the Device Manager it is listed as ADB Interface. I think I might have the driver but it just won't install it. The name is android_winusb.inf I try to install it and it says something about check that it is 32 bit. I am trying to install on Windows 7 32 bit. If that can't be done no comments alude to it. I actually downloaded and installed the Android Developer Studio which at the end can be found to give information to obtain the 'google usb' drivers. I tried a couple of things before that.
