Fingerprint scan when a Trusted Device is connected

I notice that even if I have a Trusted Device currently connected to my phone, the power button still attempts to scan my finger and still refuses to unlock the phone if the scan fails. This is strange, since in presence of a Trusted Device the phone is supposed to just unlock without checking fingerprints.

Unlock through swipe works as expected: just swipe and the phone unlocks without asking for password. But power button unlock still insists on fingerprint check.

Is this behavior typical for all Android devices or is it someting specific to Xperia phones?
