External Microphone

Can is use an external mic when recording video? I've bought one that is not working.

I also want to know any external microphone will work on XZ. Local store said those 3.5mm TRRS output microphone will work on other key brand but not on Sony.

The STM10, as far as I am aware works for all devices Z2 and up, including the X range.

I can't seem to find the Sony STM-10 for sale anywhere nor can i find it on this site. are there any other external mics that will work with the XZ premium cell phone? I am considering purchasing an XZ premium do not not like the audio recording quality of the built in mic. what are my options?

I have the Xperia XZ premium, and I purchased a Bower XAS lav mic with a trs to trss adapter. I will be field testing it using a free voice recorder app for levels and gain control.

The mic will be clipped to my shirt as centered to my neck as possible, with a foam windsock on for handling noise reduction.
