While still banging my head against another issue (/t5/Xperia-XZ1-Compact/Audio-cuts-out-after-a-while/m-p/1311527#M2636) I've decided to try the nuclear option and do a software repair with Companion. However first I'd thought I'd do a backup, and then for good measure I thought I'd check I can restore said backup.
Well, I can backup okay and see the various files in C:\Users\tlamb\OneDrive\Documents\Sony\Xperia Companion\Backups. However I can't see any backups available on the left-hand side of the restore screen, where I would expect them to be. Additionally, when I start Companion I see this message:
I assume this is related. I get it whether I start the program as administrator of not, and folder mentioned above has all the usual permissions you'd expect - full access for system, admins and myself.
I've also noticed that every time I start Companion an agent_log_{UTC DateTime stamp}.txt file is created, containing a single entry:
0ms Another instance is running. Exiting.
However this happens after restarting too, so not sure what's going here or even whether its related to my problem.
Anyone got any ideas? It's not giving me the greatest confidence that the software repair option won't brick my phone to be honest. 😕
I have exactly the same problem! Please help us out Sony
Sony does'nt seem to know about this problem.. Which is very dissapointing for such a big company. Sony failed in designing a new PC/Xperia Companion i.m.h.o.
Hope they will respond to this thread and come up with a soloution.
