back to Android 9

Hi,

My XZ1 Compact had to visit the service. The hardware problem was fixed, but unfortunately they also touched the software. Previously my mobile was running on Android 9, but now it's back to Anrodid 8. I can't upgrade back to Android 9 neither over the air, nor using the Windows app, both say that my mobile is running the latest Andorid available. Which is a huge problem for two reasons

  • tons of security problems fixed since 2017 August (CPU and bluetooth vulnerabilities, etc.)
  • my backup was done on Android 9, and now I can't restore it to the device

Any idea, how to get back to Android 9?

Peter

Hi @pczanik;

Unfortunately the costumization version that the service installed on your device was a firmware specific for "Service Exchange Unit" and the build number version you have is in fact the last available for your software.

The only way for you to get the phone updated for more recent versions is to flash another firmware costumization version.

Hi @pczanik ;

Your software version is dependent of the costumization version of your device firmware, it is possible that in the service they installed a costumization version different from the one you had before.

You can check it under the service menu (dial *#*#7378423#*#*).

Hi @NunoSEN2

Thanks to your instructions I checked the service menu now. As it's the first time I see it, I must admit that I don't understand what I'm seeing. Previously I had some Telenor customizations, now I see GLOBAL and GENERIC in the names. But as I never had any problems previously, it's the first time that I see this menu, so it could mean anything...

I have seen various websites providing Android 9 firmware for my mobile, but is there a way to go back to Andorid 9 without voiding my warranty?

Thanks,

Peter

Thanks. In this case I try to ask the service to fix it.
