All music apps keep running in background (still pkay after closing)

Hi

I have a Sony xperia xz1 compact. I have recently switched from iPhone so not sure why this is happening. All my musuc apps (ie Spotify, soundcloud, Pi Music), will not completely close after I close them. They keep running in the bsxkground.  So if I'm playing music, I close the app, music is still playing! Then I have to open then musuc app again, manually stop the music & then I close the app but I know it's still running in the bsxkground because I check in app settings & it says they're always running in the bsxkground.

How do I stop this happening or ANY app from running in the background without my permission? Thank you in advance

I'm sorry I am new to a Droid. Where's the Developer Options menu,? Thanks

If you want to quickly force stop an app that is on your Home Screen then long press it, press the small i or app info and you can force stop it from there.

Some apps do not close down if you press the back or home buttons, you need to close them from within the app first.

I now force stop most apps that I do not use every day, but some of them switch themselves back on after some time or a restart. If they are non essential apps I uninstall them and either look for alternatives or do without them.

@Red33;

No problem, go to Settings >System >About phone >tap on Build Number 7 times, now you have a new option in Settings >System that is the Developer options, in there you can select the Running Services and stop any app running.

Thank you so much  I'll try that.

Thank you  I know that's the problem. We shouldn't have to force stop every app every single time!

PS. I did that & it worked. Thank you so much. You know I called Sony xperia support 5 times & none of them could give me this info. Just goes to show. You're an expert! 🤔What is that, you're now a developer!!! I hope that doesn't affect my phone warranty or usage.

Don't worry @Red33 It has nothing to do with the warranty, it just gives you a lot more options on the settings>system menu that you normally don't have. If you want you can turn it off (first option of the Developer options menu) and your phone will be exactly as before turning the Developer menu on.

OK thank you for all your assistance. Just to sum up, only apps that have the option to turn off in background (in my case only spotify) allow for turning app running in the background. Pi music & soundcloud don't have this feature so I have to go to developer section to do this every time! It's a nuisance.
