Hi
I have a Sony xperia xz1 compact. I have recently switched from iPhone so not sure why this is happening. All my musuc apps (ie Spotify, soundcloud, Pi Music), will not completely close after I close them. They keep running in the bsxkground. So if I'm playing music, I close the app, music is still playing! Then I have to open then musuc app again, manually stop the music & then I close the app but I know it's still running in the bsxkground because I check in app settings & it says they're always running in the bsxkground.
How do I stop this happening or ANY app from running in the background without my permission? Thank you in advance
Hi @Red33;
You can stop some apps from running in background, like for example Spotify, go to Settings>Apps and notifications >App information >Spotify >Battery >Background Activity >turn it off.
Hi
Thank you for your reply
It's not letting me.i go to Spotify app in settings > while in background & I click on it & nothing happens. Plus for some odd reason it's saying: OM instead of on!
Did you follow the steps I described? That is strange because it shouldn't say on or off you just have a switch to the right off "Background Activity". Can you post a screenshot of the menu you get under battery of the Spotify app?
Yes I did .If you look on the screenshot I sent, when I click on any of those, it doesn't do anything. It just says 0m (apparently it means 0 minute). But I know it was running in the background because I received a notification saying it is yet I know I had closed it Thank you for your assistance
I can't see the picture yet but I guess you are pressing the wrong place, please scroll down the battery page, that I suppose you are in, and at the bottom you have options for "Manage battery use" and the first option with a switch is "Background Activity".
(It's the fourth line of the battery menu)
Hi
I E tried that. It just brings up the power saving option & a list of all the apps that are part of the power saving option.
I said only some apps (like Spotify) have the option to disable background use, it seems that SoundCloud don't have that option, but you can always force stop it.
Oh OK Thank you.
BTW where can I check (& close) what apps are running in the background ? It seems I have no control over what decodes to run in the background of my phone!!!
In the Developer Options menu (tap several times in Build Number) you have the option "Running Services" in wich you can see what apps are running in the phone.
