Alarm app - too many actions to turn it off

Hello,
I am using stock alarm app and I noticed that on Android 7.0 it is taking too much time to to turn it off.

Previously when Alarm rang it was showing on the screen immediately and you had to only swipe it out to turn it off. Simple and fast, it was also shown on the lock screen by the way.

Now you have to not only unlock the screen, but also you need to scroll down the notification panel, then select the Alarm app and then it allows you to swipe it out... It is too long, it requires too many actions to be performed in my opinion. It is annoying especially when you want to silent the phone quickly (for example children is sleeping etc).

Can Sony get back to previous approach for Alarm app and allow us to swipe it quickly to turn it off?

Thank you in advance.

Hi @RedBat, sorry for the late reply, I have been on vacation!

As @najodleglejszy wrote, you need to set an action for the side button on each of your alarms. If you delete them for example, you need to set it to "Snooze" or "Dismiss" the next time you create the alarm.

When the alarm rings, you can turn it off or Snooze it depends on which action you choose when setting the alarm the first time.

If it does not work for you, try and clear data for the Clock application in your phone. This may delete your previous alarms so make sure that you have those that you need in the application after clearing data for the application. To clear data, go to Settings > Apps > Clock > Storage > Clear data.

Let us know how it went!

Hi,

 Thanks for the inputs.

I have the side buttons set to dismiss, this worked fine for the last year.

The side buttons do work ONLY when the phone is on standby.

IF I wake up BEFORE the alarm and am using the phone and the alarm goes off, I have to look for the alarm notification, select it, then slide to dismiss the alarm. Earlier all I did was press the side buttons and done.

Hi again @RedBat, sorry for the late reply.

Oh, I see.

That is how it is supposed to work and there is no setting to change this in the phone. I can however see how it could be useful if you were able to dismiss/turn off the alarm with the side buttons when the alarm application isn't in the foreground of the phone, so I will make sure to forward this internally as user feedback!

You can also have a look in the Google Play store if there is another alarm/clock application that allows you to dismiss the alarm with the side buttons when the alarm application is not in the foreground!
