Hello,
I am using stock alarm app and I noticed that on Android 7.0 it is taking too much time to to turn it off.
Previously when Alarm rang it was showing on the screen immediately and you had to only swipe it out to turn it off. Simple and fast, it was also shown on the lock screen by the way.
Now you have to not only unlock the screen, but also you need to scroll down the notification panel, then select the Alarm app and then it allows you to swipe it out... It is too long, it requires too many actions to be performed in my opinion. It is annoying especially when you want to silent the phone quickly (for example children is sleeping etc).
Can Sony get back to previous approach for Alarm app and allow us to swipe it quickly to turn it off?
Thank you in advance.
Hi @azzido,
I'm sorry to hear about that and I understand that this must be very frustrating.
I just tested this in an Xperia XZ with the latest software installed and I was not able to replicate this.
When the alarm rang and the screen was turned off I was able to either snooze or swipe to the right to turn the alarm off, just like before. So the alarm application has not been changed.
I would recommend that you try and reset the alarm clock application in your phone, do note that this may delete all your previously set alarms so you might need to add them again.
To do that go to Settings > Apps > Clock > Storage > Clear data > OK. After you have done this, set an alarm that will ring in 1-2 minutes and see if you experience the same behaviour.
If you do, could you try and reboot your phone in safe mode, set an alarm and see if it works now? Just to make sure that this isn't caused by an application that you have downloaded and installed in your phone.
Let me know how it goes!
it work perfect for me too!
check clock app permissions, or reset app data.
if you work with phone a minute befor alarm, or work on time, the app find you are wake-up and not need alarm. Clock app only show notification for alarm time. It is like as others phone (my last galaxy s6 like this)
I forgot to mention I have set the option to hide notifications on locked screen.
I understand that it is not shown when it rangs in the morning (as my screen is locked), but once I use fingerpront scanner to uncloc it I would expect to see it (on entire screen) to be able to swipe it out instead of going to notification bar etc
Unfortunately it is not working this way.
Hi again!
I changed the setting for the notifications on the lock screen to not be shown at all, but I still received the same screen when the alarm rang and I was able to turn it off or snooze it from the lock screen.
Was there any change when you cleared data for the Clock application? If there was no change, try rebooting your phone in safe mode and see if you experience the same behaviour when third party applications aren't loaded.
Keep me posted!
There is no change Jonas, it is still the same, I will try the safe mode.
So sad I cannot record the screen to show you what is happening.
Thanks for the update!
If you have the chance to try while the phone was rebooted in safe mode, I would appreciate if you had the time and opportunity to get back to me with how it went!
I think I understand what is happening for you. You unlock the phone and you need to drag down the status bar while the alarm is ringing and here you can press either turn off the alarm or snooze it.
There may be third party applications in the Google Play store that allows you to record your screen, so I'd recommend that you have a look there!
Let me know how it works in safe mode!
Can anyone help with my alarm problem?
Sometimes when it goes off my screen doesn't light up giving me access to the snooze/silence. I have to bring the screen to life, unlock it and tap on the notification. This is annoying my hubby who doesn't need to get up at 0415! Other times it does light up (alarm set at different time) . I can't see any differences with any of the alarm settings. It's frustrating!

do you use a screen protector? it might be that it covers the proximity sensor (a black spot to the right of the Sony logo in the front of the device). if that's the case, the phone "thinks" that it's in a pocket, so it doesn't light up the display.
Hi @Hayeshouse, very sorry to hear about this.
How often would you say that you experience this behaviour, is it every second time the alarm goes off?
I would recommend that you start with resetting the clock application in your phone. Do note that this may delete previously set alarms so you might have to add them again.
To do that, go to Settings > Apps > Clock > Storage > Clear data > OK.
Set a few alarms pretty close to each other and turn the display off and see if you experience the same behaviour.
