ZR no notifications on Lollipop

Hi!

Last week I upgraded my ZR C5503 to Lollipop 5.1.1. using PC Companion

Since then I have no notifications for applications installed on lock screen (excepting for calls or messages).

What I have done:

In settings - sounds and notifications - Sounds and Notification/While Locked is set to "Show All Content"

- notifications light: on

- in apps notifications I selected the applications  for which to receive notifications - priority - on.

still no notifications. I mention that there is not that bar to switch among the 3 notification modes: None, Priority and All.

What can I do?

Thanks

Hello @Costi1 and welcome to the forum!

If I understood you correctly then you only receive notifications on your lockscreen for messages and missed calls, yes? What other apps are you not receiving notifications for? Can you see these notifications when the phone is unlocked?

If the Show notifications option is turned off for an application, you will not receive any updates or notifications from that application. For example, if the Show notification option is off in the Messaging application, you will receive the text message but you will not get any sound notification or a notification in the status bar. However, you will be able to see that you have a new unread text message, for example (1) appears to show that you have 1 unread message.

To enable Show notifications

  1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Find and tap Settings Sound & notification > App notifications.
  3. Swipe to the All tab.
  4. Select the app for which you want to change the notification settings.
  5. Tap the on-off switch beside Block to enable show notification.

 First of all, thanks for your answer @Didrik

I checked what you said and I can say that the state of notifications is better now. So, I receive notifications for calls, messages, whatsApp, news suite, avast, google play store.

I still don`t receive notifications for some apps: flashscore Romania, agerpres (news app), Ido Romania Weather Warnings.  I uninstall and then reinstalled them, I checked the notifications settings for them. Besides what you said, in Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications, for each of the above mentioned apps, I set the priority (the switch is on). Still have no notifications for these three apps even when the screen is locked or the phone is unlocked. It is strange that although I use these applications, they do not appear in Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications - most recent tab.

 I don’t know what else to do; maybe it's a problem with these apps on Android 5.1.1

@Costi1, glad to hear there was in improvment.

Are these apps supposed to push out notifications? Have you checked the in-app settings? Since they are third party applications I cannot say exactly how to manouver inside the app.

If there are no settings for notifications in the app and you cannot see notifications even when the phone is unlocked it sounds like these apps do not send out any notifications. It might be a good idea to double check this with the developers of mentioned applications.

@Didrik,

Yes, these apps are surely able to push out notifications. I say so because, before upgrading to Lollipop 5.1.1, I received push out notifications from them (at that time my phose worked with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean). I have checked the in-app settings. I don’t understand why push out notifications worked on 4.1.2 Android and don’t work now, on 5.1.1.

Perhaps it's something wrong with these apps.

@Costi1,

It could be that these apps are not fully compatible with the version of android your device is using. I would recommend that you start by contacting the developers to try and get some information about that.

Note that compatibility with third party apps cannot be guaranteed, if an app is incompatible with your phone it's on the developer to make a change in the app.

Thank you!

I will contact the developers of these apps.
