Any ideas why android just lost contact with cameras? Camera app just dies, it won't start. I don't have logs, as the device is not rooted. Nor can I take nandroid backups. I'd hate to reinstall and configure everything, so I try to avoid wiping.

I've cleaned cache and data from can app, even removed camera updates, and rebooted several times. I kept it couple hours shut down. Diagnostics can't reach camera or flash. What else to try?

yep, even finally gave up and reflashed it with the "repair xperia" after installing the mac sw for it. No camera. el kaput. service time

Hi all,

I've read your post, and identical thing happened to me 2 days ago. I have Z5C 1.5 month and I finally tuned all the things on it and was very satisfied with whole phone in general,especially the camera.

I was trying to use phone's camera for work and couldn't take a single photo.Tried everything I can when I got home. Software repair, Factory reset, Camera app 1.0.0 and 2.0.0,Camera app cache clean,Built in Diagnostics, nothing helped. I also noticed that flashlight toggle from notification bar quick toggle is also gone and not working, although when you edit quick toggles flashlight is there.Lastly, strange thing is also that Youtube app also stopped working.

So I had to take my Z5 Compact to authorised service:smileycry:. I will put also few screenshots I captured prior to service.

I will keep it updated here with any further info.

Try this go to setting-apps-all-camera- clear data-force stop

As I said in last post, I tried that already and it didn't help.Unfortunately this seems to be bigger hardware / software issue.

Mine's also in the service. It was sent somewhere. They said I might be weeks without the phone, let's see.

well, I got informed the phone front cam was replaced, and I could fetch it. I wasted two hours going to pick it up, only to notice the first complaint at boot was that camera is stuck. Amazing, they hadn't even bothered to check it once at the service. Now it's back there. SFC service in Finland, do avoid.

Hi again,

my phone is back from the service and they replaced whole 'primary camera and update it to latest firmware'.

So far so good, but I'm still sceptical...Because phone is so new,and first day when it came from service when taking pic directly from WhatsApp cam, touch commands already froze. I think they really need to work on software, not just sell unfinished products. They are not cheap and they have Sony name on it, so I expect higher reliability. I have Sony from 97' that works;enough said.
