Z3 water damage\screen problem???? anyone else had probs???

Hey everyone!!!

 Just a quick one.... Took my z3 for the first water test today... Only had the phone a month..... Now it failed epicly..... The camera has hazed up like it's wet inside. Secondly... The phone doesn't work... Screen is just black???? I can hear it just no display.... Any ideas?! 

The water proof paper thing in side by the sim\sdcard port is still yellow which sujests it's not water damaged?? So I'm stumped.... No idea what's wrong... Done the whole power and up volume... Did nothing...can feel phone turn off and turn back on but no display....

Please help guys any sujestions welcome! Or I'll post off hope they'll repair through warranty as its still in perfect condition.

Hey guys! Got home today and tried on the PC to do a repair etc with new software. Still to noavail.... However last night I could see my device display but had to stand under a spot light and you can just and I mean Just...see the screen... Seems like the backlight of the screen is knackered.... I have today sent it off too hopefully be repaired... I'll update when I get an update. I've take pics of phone in condition it was sent so fingers crossed..

Just to finalise this thread after Sony having the handset for 2 weeks it couldn't be repaired! They have now replaced my device with a brand new one!!! Happy days! I asked what actually happened to the other one.... And the backlight blew on it.... Couldn't be repaired.

I am glad you got replaced by sony. I have had same problem with my wife's phone we went on vacation to maldives and phone we took in jacuzzi and within few seconds screen is gone but however i couls see the screen directly under the sunlight but phone won't charge and i don't see any water damange. I also had sony exteneded service plan which they can replace brand new phone without any question for 1 time in 2 year but i rather send for warranty repair than replaced under extended warranty. 

I just send yesterdy may 12 and lets see what they come up with. I heard lots of stories about sony waterproofing what they claim but its not. I am thinking to talking some lawyers about action class lawsuit since there are thosads people are having same problem and sony is miss marketing in commercial while people are using phone in swimming pool.

There is another indicator present below micro USB port.. Just open the cover n see there is very little indicator strip..

i had same problem...i took to sony service center..they told me there is water ingress and this is not covered in warranty....**bleep** man!!!...so much cost of phone and ipx8 rating...why u people making fool of us!!!...why some one wants to put "so much cost phone" in water intentionally....its so irritating man!!!...i loved sony but its now vanishing...now they took for some testing and m keeping fingure crossed... 😞

Bought mine less than 48 hours ago, went to the pool today, it got one splash of water on the front and now its broken!! camera misted up, screen went black and now doesn't respond to anything!! @sonyxperia claim IP rating of water 1.5m submerged but it cant even cope with a little bit of a splash by a pool!! Now its been sent off and im without a phone for a minimum of 7 days while @sony TRY to figure out whats wrong!! Whats wrong is that @sonyxperia are falsely claiming water resistance of the Z3 and it should not even come anywhere near water contact! @sony misleading and selling faulty products in the market! SHAME on @sony

My Xperia Z3 broke last week, exactly the same thing... mist up camera lens, got water in it because of rain....

I treat my phone with extra care everyday, had both side glass protector on...

I talked to the customer service and the guy told me "rain is not clean water so it's not covered in warranty"

I was seriously shocked by what he said - -  pool water is clean and rain is "too much salt that IPxx doesn't cover"... I mean here in canada rain water is probably cleaner than tap water lol

I'm sure this is a manufacture defect since so many people have the same problem...

Fully agree. You should also lodge a complaint to your local advertising stadnards authority to claim misleading advertising. THis will be faster and cost you nothing.  They will have a jury to decide and can force sony to change its ads.  That will help to substanitate our claim that there is a real issue.
