As the title states. I was updating the phone to 5.1(i think) from 4.4(kitkat). Half way through, it says ERROR: Update Failed.
I plug it in the computer and attempt to fastboot/recovery mode/ SUS but it doesnt register under the software. (No device detected)
It is quite similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlicWC_5iB4
However, i did not unlock bootloader or do anything to void my warrenty. Will sony be able to aid me in restoring my phone? I have backed up my data on my computer so that will not be a problem.
*Side note: I have shut off the phone for 2hours before attempting to SUS it, using the "Power + Volume UP" key.
Used volume down and plugged into computer to attempt to connect to fastboot/recovery.
Used volume up and plugged into computer to attempt to connect to fastboot/recovery.
Other than this issue, I am loving my Xperia Z3, and would definetly go for other Sony products. However, if this issue is unresolved, that might change my mind due to the lack of customer support.
Thanks in advance for help
Forgot to mention it was a DD6603.
Hi,
I suggest that you try to perform a software repair on your phone via PC Companion:
http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/
In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.
Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.
Please see this thread about SUS and what is supported now:

You may need to perform a software repair using PC Companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).
@Hampus Beat me to it.
I have tried using PC companion and it does not read my phone. Charging my phone only causes the constant restarting and stalling at "Error- Update Failed". I have downloaded EMMA aswell, but to no avail.
Why doesn't it read your phone? Have you tried to turn it off when prompted and connect with volume down pressed?
Yes, i have! Its just not reading it for some reason. I tried following the steps stated by the Sony PC Companion. It doesnt do anything. Also tried volume up button just in case. Did not work.
In this case, I suggest that you visit nearest service center to have your phone examined by a technician. You can check the following link for information how to get your phone examined/repaired:

I would definetely do that! But i live in Canada, and all stores in Canada have closed. How would i proceed with this?
*Note: I live on the west cost. The only store is on the east
