Z3 Compact Dead phone

The phone has just died... it was on charge and suddenly nothing works. No charge light when plugged in for charge, no response to power and volume buttons, nothing when plugged into the PC. The phone is just over a year old and has worked perfectly up to now. Any suggestions?

@dazbear

What if you try with different chargers and cables?

Connect the phone to a wall charger > press and hold power & volume up for 10 seconds > let it charge for 2 to 3 hours

Hi @dazbear

Welcome to the community.

One thing that you can try if the issue persists would be a Software Repair.

Here's how to run the repair on PC Companion:

  1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
  2. Phone Software Update.
  3. Start.
  4. Repair Phone
  5. Continue
  6. Accept data removal
  7. Next
  8. Wait for prepare
  9. Select Phone
  10. Follow the connection steps

And Bridge for Mac:

  1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
  2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
  3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
  4. Select Continue on the following page.
  5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.

6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears

  1. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.

You will want to start these processes with the phone powered off and disconnected from the PC.

Thanks @John-BR but PC Companion Repair only works if there's power, which there isn't - it won't be able to detect the phone.

Hi dazbear,

That's not actually true, the software repair is performed with the device powered off, it is never powered on during the whole process.

Although, they battery still needs to hold charge so the repair can be done.

Okay... tried both these steps and no luck. Still dead...

With that being the case, we can only really suggest that you contact Sony Mobile Customer Care, they should be able to help get this device checked out for you. Use my signature below to find contact details.
