Z2 screen won't respond during a Call

So there are a little back story to this which I'll write out at the bottom.

My Xperia Z2's screen work perfectly fine until I need to make a call. The second i hit the person's name on the call log, the screen becomes black, eccentially shutting off and not allowing me to turn it back on until the call has ended.
the only way for me to end call is to press the power button. And if I do not have the setting on to do so, the power button still does not allow me to turn on the screen.

Now, I thought it was something wrong with the proximity censor (as in a Hardware fault, explained in the back story) until yesterday when i woke up and suddenly I could make a call with the screen on, but now the person on the other side was not recieving my Audio (but my phone mic was still working). After turning my phone off and back on, it reverted back to being able to make a call, but not being able to use the screen.

If anyone has possible solutions to being able to use my screen to use the dial pad while in call, please let me know.

[Backstory]

back in March this year my Phone's headphone jack became unresponsive, and the support team and I figured out it was a Hardware problem so i sent in my phone to Fonebiz as requested and a week or two later I recieved my phone back with a fixed headphone jack. At the same time, I noticed a crack/scractch from the inside of the front screen on the top left, about 1cm from the left and 3mm down. It's visible but in a place where you don't look at so i thought i'll just leave it. a day or two later the problem I wrote above started occuring, and I was unable to use the dial pad while making a call.

I figured it might be another hardware fault because the small crack is only about 1cm away from the proximity censor, and I was unwilling to go through the process again to have my phone repaired so I left it

Now that the screen actually turned on while calling briefly, but unable to use the mic, I'm wondering if it's a software problem that I can fix without having to send my phone in again.

Thanks for reading

If it is a software problem you could try to repair it with Sony PC Companion.

But it does sound like a hardware issue and you may have to take it back to get it check out
