Z2 L50U no data in Canada

I live in China and bought China Unicom's L50U version of the Z2. I have not flashed or rooted it at all.  I've had no issues with it apart from the annoying blockage of google play but I knew that when I bought it.

However I've just come back to Canada and got a Rogers SIM.  I'm able to make calls easy enough but it won't send/receive data despite it showing 3G in the top right of the display.  I've tried to update the MMS settings while on WIFI but it always fails, it said to come to this site but I've found nothing about this particular problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Josh

Hi webejosh,

Welcome to the community,

When you say you have tried to update the settings, do you mean you have used the following instruction?

Menu > Settings > More > Internet Settings > Accept disclaimer > Choose network.

Also, have you tried removing the SIM card and simply putting it back in then trying the settings download.

Hi,

Yes, that's what I've tried.  It allows me to choose the Rogers network, it shows the download icon on the top left then shortly says could not download, tap here to try again.

Yes, I've tried taking the SIM out. I've also tried it in a different phone and can use both calling and data so it shouldn't be a SIM issue.

Although that SIM works in other phones, I would not rule out the SIM card. Are you able to try a friend or family members SIM card in the phone to see if they settings can be downloaded?

There's no difference with my friend's SIM.  I can make/receive calls but no data goes through.  Is there a way I can DL the settings a different way?

Download no, however you can manually input the settings, but you would need to contact your network carrier to get the settings directly.

What exactly would I ask for? Any other suggestions? Surely others with this model have traveled abroad before and had this issue.

You would simply ask for Internet and MMS settings, they should be able to provide them directly.

I did a google search for Rogers APN and then had to input the numbers. It works now.

Great, I'm glad it was only a settings issue. I hope you have no further issues in the future Slightly_smiling_Face
